A 68-year-old man has been found dead within a vehicle after emergency services closed off the M8 westbound late on Thursday, December 4. Police were called to the incident between junctions 29 and 30, near Glasgow Airport, around 7.50pm.

Police say the death is being treated as unexplained, however, there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. It is understood the death was from a medical matter.

The busy motorway was closed westbound for nearly six hours as emergency services attended, and reopened at 2.36am this morning, according to Traffic Scotland. Drivers were forced to divert off the M8 while police investigations were ongoing.
