Premier Doug Ford said he expects the long-delayed Eglinton Crosstown LRT to finally open in 2026 — just days after his transportation minister said there was a possibility the line could open before the end of the year .

“I’ll be safe and say 2026,” Ford told reporters at an event on Friday for the city’s other newly built light-rail line, the Finch West LRT. “But very soon after 2026.”

“There’s always those last little touches,” he added. “I want to thank both the CEOs of Metrolinx and TTC. They’ve done a really good job.”
