Central Square, N.Y. — The Central Square Walmart was evacuated Thursday night after someone called the store claiming they were inside and armed with weapons, troopers said.

Around 7:30 p.m., State Police and the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Walmart on Route 49 in the village of Central Square, according to Trooper Jennifer Jiron, a spokesperson for State Police.

An anonymous caller told Walmart employees they were in the store with weapons and threatened violence.

Shoppers and employees were evacuated while troopers and deputies searched the building with K-9 units.

Nothing was found to substantiate the threat, and the store later reopened.
