A woman who tried to confront a hit-and-run driver in Paterson was rammed and run over earlier this week, the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office said.

The incident happened near Grand Street and Dale Avenue on Wednesday, Dec. 3, around 4:15 p.m., according to Sheriff Thomas Adamo.

Deputies said the victim told officers that a 2025 Honda HR-V had struck her vehicle and fled the initial scene. She followed the SUV and approached the driver, authorities said.

The sheriff said the victim began recording the encounter when the driver — identified as Rosalind D. Parks, 46, of Paterson — then drove her vehicle into the victim, continued over her, and fled, leaving the victim severely injured.

Deputies provided medical care until the victim was taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, Adamo said. Detectives later located Parks at her home, where she was arrested and taken to the Hudson County Jail pending a detention hearing, authorities said.

Parks is charged with aggravated assault (second degree), leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily injury (third degree), and endangering an injured victim (third degree). She was also issued motor vehicle summonses for reckless driving, leaving the scene, failure to report, and failure to exhibit documents, the sheriff said.
