FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A 24-year-old Fort Wayne man was sentenced Friday in a deadly 2024 crash.
Ethan Kurtzweg was initially charged with felony causing death while driving intoxicated, causing serious bodily injury while driving intoxicated, reckless homicide and criminal reckless with a deadly weapon.
The charges stemmed from a May 2024 collision with a parked AEP vehicle that killed Samuel Paul Zurbuch. Another passenger in Kurtzweg’s car suffered a fractured pelvis, torn ligaments and a concussion, according to court records.
Kurtzweg was also injured in the crash. In his vehicle, police found multiple empty beer cans in the car and a glass beer bottle in the center console, court documents say.
His blood alcohol content was 0.178%, twice the legal limit.
