LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Community activist Devine Carama is making a final push for coat donations to keep Kentucky’s kids warm this winter.
Carama is the founder of nonprofit Believing in Forever Inc. Every year he holds a coat drive, and this year the request was big. The organization is about 300 coats short of their 2,300-coat goal.
“This is what community is about. To me, it’s much more than just a coat drive,” Carama said.
Carama spent Friday morning picking up coat donations in a U-Haul truck as the drive closes in on its end.
“This has definitely been one of our biggest years and I think it shows that even though we’re seeing signs that the economy is recovering, people are still struggling,” he said.
