MORRISON, Ill. — Police in Whiteside County are looking for a suspect in an attempted armed robbery after a school was placed on lockdown.
On Thursday, just after 11:15 a.m., the Morrison Police Department was called to Northside Elementary School for a report of an attempted armed robbery of a person near the school. It was reported the suspect had a Glock-style handgun.
As a result of the incident, Northside was put on lockdown. School Resource Officer Dan Simmons stayed with the school on Thursday.
The suspect fleed the area by the school and victim, according to police.
He was described as a younger white man, between 5'9" and 5'11", skinny, and wearing a black coat, pants, and a mask.
