EVANGELINE PARISH, La. (KPLC) - A Mamou man is facing several charges after reportedly drawing a rifle on law enforcement, leading to an hours-long standoff.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Gerald Chapman, 60, on the following counts:

Aggravated assault with a firearm

Fake explosive device

Terrorizing

On Dec. 4, Evangeline Parish Narcotics agents were surveilling the area of Bond Road in Reddell, just north of Mamou, according to Capt. Monica Reed of EPSO.

Reed said the agents were parked at the intersection of Lahaye Road and Old Highway 13. They were approached several times by Chapman, who was wearing a black cowboy hat, a black facemask, and dark clothing concealing his face.
