SIOUX RAPIDS, Iowa (KTIV) — The Sioux Rapids community is working to raise funds to rebuild the Graeber-Rowe American Legion Post after flood damage left the building unusable.

The building was inundated with floodwater in June 2024, causing an estimated $550,000 in damage.

FEMA has approved funding to repair the building, but the community must cover 15 percent of the cost, approximately $50,000.

Community leaders said the legion serves multiple purposes beyond supporting veterans. The building was used as a community center, polling place and was rented for private events.
