With the final College Football Playoff rankings set to be revealed following this weekend’s conference championship games, several teams are waiting on pins and needles.
Notre Dame and Miami are two of those such teams.
No. 12 Miami is not playing in the ACC Championship Game despite being ranked ahead of both Virginia (No. 16) and Duke (unranked) — the two teams playing for the conference title — and having a better overall record (10-2) than Duke (7-5).
Because it’s an independent, Notre Dame doesn’t have a conference championship game to play in, which would likely boost its CFP stock if it won.
