NORMAL ( 25News Now ) - Twenty Illinois State University Police personnel have been honored for their investigation of the on-campus shooting this past spring.
Officers and emergency dispatchers were recognized for their hard work and quick action on the night of a shooting at Bone Student Center in April, where one person was injured.
That work led to the arrest of 19-year-old Emir Thomas of Chicago, who is not a student at ISU.
ISU Police Chief Aaron Woodruff said on-campus shootings are rare, happening only every 20 to 30 years. He said he is proud of his team and the actions they took throughout the case.
