Two people were arrested after an infant's remains were found buried in a beer box at a property in suburban Will County, authorities said.
Will County sheriff's officials said on Thursday authorities learned an infant was possibly buried at a property along Roberts Street near Bass Street in unincorporated Wilmington. Detectives conducted an investigation and learned a woman had given birth, and the child's remains were located at the property in question.
The remains, authorities said, were marked with a "makeshift headstone" at the property.
After obtaining a warrant, deputies took several people into custody, and crime scene investigators began working at the scene. The investigators dug approximately 3 feet into the ground and found an Old Style beer box that contained the remains
