The excitement around college football is at an all-time high with the second season of the 12-team College Football Playoff—but there are still clear flaws in the system.

On Saturday, ahead of the conference championship games, Kirk Herbstreit made it known that something needs to change in with the CFP during a segment on ESPN’s "College GameDay."

Each week, the selection committee releases its rankings to the public, a process that frequently draws criticism—especially now with 12 teams, where evaluations are far more complicated.

Herbstreit suggested that the weekly Tuesday rankings, which begin midway through the season on ESPN, should be scrapped.
