A high school basketball showcase featuring some of the top boys' teams in Minnesota was disrupted Saturday night when the final game of the day ended early due to reported fighting in the crowd at Hopkins High School.
The alleged fighting happened during the second half of the Class 4A showdown between state powers Hopkins and Tartan. It was the final game of the Breakdown Sports USA Big Stage Classic, which featured seven games and 14 Twin Cities schools.
"Entertaining game with Tartan boys beating Hopkins by 10 points in the second half tonight before a fight broke out among fans to force the game to end with just over nine minutes left. Unfortunate ending to the night," said Marcus Fuller, who was covering the event for the Minnesota Star Tribune.
