It’s pop star meets politician in the plot twist of the year. Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau just made it official.
The 41-year-old "I Kissed a Girl" singer and the 53-year-old former Canadian prime minister appeared in a photo together for the first time in an image shared by Japan’s former prime minister Fumio Kishida on X. Perry, who split from Orlando Bloom in June, is seen standing with Trudeau, Kishida, and Kishida’s wife, Yuko, on Dec. 4.
“Former Canadian Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau visited Japan with his partner and joined my wife and me for lunch,” Kishida captioned the photo, without mentioning Perry by name.
“During his time as prime minister, we met multiple times as fellow leaders, and when I visited Canada, we worked together to strengthen bilateral relations, including formulating the ‘Japan-Canada Action Plan,’ sweating it out side by side. I am delighted that we continue to maintain this friendship in this way.”
Perry later fueled the buzz by posting an Instagram photo album captioned “tokyo times on tour and more.” The second shot features her and Trudeau together. She also shared a black-and-white video of herself trying uni for the first time, with Trudeau cheering her on.
Trudeau is separated from his wife, Sophie Grégoire. They share three children together. Perry and Trudeau were first spotted together on a date in Montreal in July.
