LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The people of Lincoln held a moment of silence to remember an American tragedy that happened 84 years ago.

“We pledge to remember Pearl Harbor. To remember those who made it home, and remember those who didn’t.”

On Sunday, Auld Pavilion was packed for a Pearl Harbor Remembrance Ceremony.

A full audience, some relatives of those who experienced the bombing, listened to remarks from city Councilman Justin Carlson stepping up to the podium to make sure the story of Red Cloud native Donald Stratton, who was aboard the USS Arizona in Hawaii, lives on.

“Today we recall the services and sacrifice of Nebraskans like Donald Stratton,” Carlson said. “Shortly after he graduated from high school in Red Cloud in 1940, he enlisted in the Navy. Donald was one of just 335 sailor
