ROCHESTER, Minn. — The Somali community in Rochester gathered over the weekend for an event hosted by the community organization ISAIAH. The event, filled with food and fellowship, was a celebration of solidarity and belonging.

"As Sheikh Salah was saying during his speech, fear is not going to stop us," Muad, co-president of Youth Community Connect, said. "We're going to keep going, we're going to keep building communities, and we're going to keep living our life."

The event, held on Sunday, was packed, with standing room only. It was organized in response to recent ICE activities and comments from President Trump targeting the Somali community. Community leaders took the opportunity to share their own stories and affirm their place in Rochester.
