MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The city of Madison opened all cross-country skiing trails on Sunday. The North Central, Northwest, Southeast and Southwest regions of Dane County’s snowmobile trails are also open.
Snow fans were eager to get outside after they said last year’s season started relatively late.
Marie Nitschke said her family loves going out together on the trails.
“We had gotten Max skis at the Hoofer resale last year and he didn’t even get to try them because it was too chilly,” Nitschke said.
Kiersten and Wesley Scott have skied since they were kids and tried out Odana Hills for the first time on Sunday.
“The trails were excellently groomed for both classic and skate, so that was really nice,” Kiersten said. “Especially because I classic and she skates,” Wesley added.
