Vanderbilt’s football team strongly believed it deserved to be included in the 12-team College Football Field announced Sunday morning.

But a New Year’s Eve bowl in sunny Florida isn’t the worst way to end the season.

In search of a school record-breaking 11 th win this season, the Commodores (10-2) accepted an invitation to take on Iowa in the ReliaQuest Bowl on Dec. 31. The contest will be played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla., and will kick off at 11 a.m. CT (ESPN).

The game will mark a second straight bowl appearance for Vanderbilt, which last accomplished that feat when the ‘Dores went to three straight bowl games from 2011-13. Vandy defeated Georgia Tech 35-27 in the Birmingham Bowl last year.
