GRAND ISLAND, Neb (KSNB) — Trinity United Methodist Church has brought back its annual Live Nativity and Soup Supper after a five-year break due to COVID-19.
The church decided to revive the holiday tradition following community outcry for its return. The event marks the 34th year of the celebration, which has been running since 1987.
“It’s kind of nice to have folks come out and see the Christmas story,” said the Rev. Ray Stone, a church member.
Community volunteers return to tradition
Deb Brummond, a volunteer, said the extended break was too long for the beloved tradition. All of her children participated in the plays over the years.
“You go and see the actors come out and it’s just good for the soul,” Brummond said.
