An Edinburgh resident was rushed to hospital after a fire broke out in a city centre tenement building. The incident, which took place on Brougham Street near Tollcross on Sunday, December 7, at 3.20pm, saw police and fire crews in attendance.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) confirmed they were in attendance with three appliances and a high reach vehicle. Around 20 firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and make the area safe again. One person was taken to hospital for treatment.

One concerned resident told Edinburgh Live the road was closed off by officers and the incident went on for hours.
