VIRGINIA BEACH — A consulting firm’s recent deep dive into the current status of the city’s park system uncovered a host of areas where Virginia Beach is lacking amenities and is prompting the city to devise a long-term plan to address the shortfalls.
The proposed master plan, developed by Kimley-Horn, recommends construction of new amenities in underdeveloped parks including outdoor pickleball courts, canoe and kayak launches and soft trails. It also recommends the city increase access for people with disabilities and address safety hazards in existing parks.
