TUNICA, Miss. — The Tunica Humane Society is asking for volunteers to help wash blankets and towels as the shelter works to keep its animals warm and dry during cold, wet weather.
Shelter staff said their large-capacity washing machine runs almost nonstop and can handle about eight loads a day, but that still isn’t enough to keep up with the demand — especially with more than 20 puppies currently in the building.
With dogs being rotated in and out and blankets frequently replaced, piles of laundry build up quickly.
The shelter is asking anyone with free time and access to a washer and dryer to consider picking up a load or two of laundry to wash at home and return.
Staff said any help would be “SO appreciated” as they work to care for the animals through the winter months.
