A man armed with a knife inside a Harrisburg home was taken to a hospital after a Saturday standoff with officers, police confirmed Monday.

Harrisburg police were dispatched around 10:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a suicidal man inside a home near North 18th and Market Street, Lt. Kyle Gautsch said.

Police initially believed the man was armed with both a knife and a handgun, and the Dauphin County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) responded to the scene.

But after the man was removed from the home, Gautsch said police found that what they believed to be a gun was actually a soldering gun, used for tasks like joining large wires, plumbing, and stained glass. A bloody knife was also recovered.
