An Iraqi man has been jailed after he tried to illegally gain entry to the UK on a small boat.

Convicted terrorist, Rebwar Hamad, arrived with others on September 19 this year after they were intercepted by an RNLI lifeboat.

The 48-year-old was interviewed by immigration officers at Margate police station a few days later and declined to comment.

But he has now pleaded guilty to coming to the UK without valid entry clearance and has been jailed for two years and three months at Canterbury Crown Court.

Hamad first came to the UK in 2001 and was given indefinite leave
