BEAUMONT, Texas — Charges against Dr. Nir Binur were dismissed Monday, Dec. 8, 2025, bringing an end to the Jefferson County sexual assault case that resulted in two mistrials after juries were unable to reach unanimous verdicts.
Judge Raquel West had declared the most recent mistrial Thursday afternoon in the second trial after jurors reported they could not agree on a decision. Jurors began deliberating Wednesday afternoon, broke around 5 p.m., and resumed Thursday morning before notifying the court of the deadlock.
The retrial was held in Jefferson County’s 252nd District Court, with Prosecutor Tommy Coleman representing the state and defense attorney Ryan Gertz representing Binur. The dismissal comes after the second jury failed to reach a verdict, following an earlier mistrial in
