SPRINGFIELD — Starting Monday, the city is taking proposals from nonprofit groups for building rehab or construction.
The city is dedicating $220,000 in federal Community Development Block Grant funding for the initiative. The awards are to help increase a nonprofit agency’s services or to stop service cuts.
“This initiative will allow the awardees to not have to burden their budgets and their bottom lines by making potential cuts to their core and key community services to make much-needed facility improvements,” Mayor Domenic J. Sarno said in a statement on Monday.
The organization applying must serve low- and moderate-income city residents. Proposals are due Jan. 8, and grants will be as much as $25,000.
