HERTFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - State Department of Transportation crews spent Monday morning salting roads in Hertford and Bertie counties as parts of ENC prepare for wintry weather.
Thousands of gallons of salt brine hit the roads before snow was expected to arrive on Monday. The counties are among many under a winter weather advisory across the state as rain switches to snow throughout the evening.
NCDOT crews turned huge loads of salt into brine to load trucks with the mixture and prepare the roads. The process was repeated throughout the day.
“We’re going to spend a lot of time getting this right so that everyone can be safe,” said Bertie County North Transportation Supervisor Kelly Perry.
