New York’s population continues to struggle even five years after COVID-19, according to a new report.
The findings by the nonpartisan think tank, the Empire Center for Public Policy, show that the city is less populated now than it was in 2020.
The report shows the five boroughs lost 265,000 residents over the last five years — a number much higher compared to other parts of the state and even the country.
While the city did see an increase in New Yorkers over the last two years, it only recovered about one-third of its population loss.
Bill Hammond, the author of the report and a senior fellow at the Empire Center for Public Policy, joined NY1’s Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Monday to discuss more.
