BAXTER, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash involving multiple commercial vehicles, including a tour bus, on the interstate in Putnam County on Tuesday morning.

THP troopers were dispatched to mile marker 277 on I-40 West for reports of a serious multi-vehicle crash around 5:40 a.m. Upon arrival, they learned the incident involved two commercial vehicles, an empty tour bus, and one passenger car.

One person was reported dead at the scene, and multiple others were transported with injuries.

All westbound lanes of I-40 were shut down from Baxter Road to Old Baxter Road for the investigation. Traffic is being diverted off at exit 280 and back on at ramp 276.
