The atmospheric river that brought persistent rain into the metro area Monday will continue its flow Tuesday filling area rivers and streams.

The National Weather Service says the impacts from this moderate-to-heavy precipitation band will be felt through at least Wednesday. A flood advisory was issued warning of urban and small stream flooding in Multnomah, Washington and Clark counties through 10 a.m. Tuesday. Low-lying areas and locations with poor drainage should expect water on the roadways.

High water is already causing traffic problems in the Portland area early Tuesday as several crashes were reported prior to 6 a.m. and flooding had the northbound ramp from Interstate 5 to westbound Lombard Street closed for a brief period around 5:30 a.m.
