MUSKEGON, MI – A 16-year-old has been charged with open murder for his alleged role in the fatal shooting of 73-year-old Tomas Lee Stewart Sr.
The teen is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday, Dec. 9, in Muskegon County District Court, Chief Assistant Prosecutor Tim Maat told MLive/Muskegon Chronicle.
Prosecutors are also reviewing potential charges against a 17-year-old Muskegon boy who was arrested with the other teen, Maat said.
Muskegon police found Stewart suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body after a Dec. 1 shooting on Jiroch Street. Stewart was pronounced dead at the scene.
About five hours after the shooting, police performed a traffic stop near Harvey Street and Marquette Avenue. Police believed those in the vehicle were involved in the shooting.
