Work on the $25 million project to improve South McGregor Avenue is finished, and drivers will be able to use the upgraded corridor this week, Mobile Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis announced during Tuesday’s City Council meeting.
The stretch of asphalt between Airport Boulevard and Dauphin Street has been closed since May 2023, to the frustration of local motorists. Lagniappe previously reported the city spent two years digging through bedrock to remove and replace eight different utility lines, including a 75-year-old, 22-inch gas main.
