BEAUMONT, Texas — A Jefferson County jury has sentenced Brandon Dwayne Kirksey, 39, of Beaumont, to 65 years in prison following his conviction in an aggravated sexual assault of a child case.

Jury selection in the case was held Monday afternoon, with testimony beginning Tuesday in Criminal District Court. The trial was presided over by Judge John Stevens.

According to information contained in the probable cause affidavit, the victim made an outcry alleging abuse by Kirksey. The child was later interviewed at the Garth House, where an investigator noted she seemed scared to talk during the interview. The affidavit states the victim accused Kirksey of looking at pornography with her.

Investigators allege the abuse occurred when the victim was younger than 10-years-old.
