At 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service released a winter storm watch valid from Thursday 1 a.m. until Friday 7 a.m. for Onondaga, Madison and Oneida counties.
"Heavy lake effect snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 7 inches or more possible," adds the weather service. "A period of steady snow is expected to move in early Wednesday morning and continue much of the day. The snow could mix with a some rain or even freezing rain at times Wednesday afternoon. Lake effect and upslope snow showers along with patchy blowing snow then continues Wednesday evening into Wednesday night. A band of significant lake effect snow is then possible Thursday into Thursday night, with more blowing and drifting snow possible as westerly winds gust up to 40 mph."
