A major change is coming Wednesday to one of East Haven’s most dangerous intersections.
The town will put up barriers on the western side of Kimberly Avenue at Forbes Place, turning it into a cul-de-sac.

According to an engineering report, the intersection had 76 crashes in 2022 and 2023.
“Furthermore, a review of the crash diagram indicates that 44 crashes occurred at conflict points that would be eliminated with the closure of the eastbound approach of Kimberly Avenue,” the report writes.
The configuration of the intersection is irregular. Three of the four approaches are marked with a stop sign. The southbound approach from adjacent Route 1 is free-flowing.
