POTSDAM, New York (WWNY) - A group of Clarkson University students has found a new way to get rid of PFAS, also known as “forever chemicals.”
It’s possible the pan you cook with, or the clothes you wear, were made with PFAS. These man-made chemicals can take a long time to break down naturally and due to their widespread use, can be found in places they shouldn’t be, like rivers and dirt.
Studies have shown that the chemicals can lead to liver damage, fertility issues, and cancer.
There are ways to get them out of the environment. A type of carbon can adsorb the chemicals, but destroying the polluted carbon afterwards can create other types of pollution.
