ST. LOUIS (First Alert 4) - It has been nearly four months since St. Louis City moved from alley recycling to drop-off recycling.
Since the city made that change in August, residents tell First Alert 4 the drop-off site at Sublette and Arsenal is almost always overflowing. We talked to a refuse worker off camera on Tuesday, who said he stopped by that location first thing Monday morning for pick-up but by Tuesday the bins were already completely full.
Chief operating officer Benjamin Jonsson said the city is doing pick-ups at that location four times a week now.
“We’re really basing it on how quickly they fill up,” he said.
Jonsson said with alley recycling, the bins were too contaminated to actually recycle half of the time.
From October 16 through Nov 15, the city tells First Alert
