LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A person is dead, and another is in critical condition after a reported shooting at Kentucky State University in Frankfort.
The Frankfort Police Department said they responded to the report of an active aggressor on campus around 3:10 p.m. on Dec. 9. KSU said the shooting happened near Whitney M. Young Jr. Hall, which is a student dorm located at 106 South University Drive.
By the time Frankfort police arrived, KSU campus police already had a suspect in custody. According to Frankfort police, the rapid actions of all units involved helped ensure the scene was contained immediately.
Police said the suspected shooter was not a student at KSU. The suspect was later identified as Jacob Lee Bard of Evansville, Indiana. Bard is facing murder and assault charges.
