A human rights organization is asking FIFA to investigate President Donald Trump’s receipt of an award at Friday’s 2026 World Cup Final Draw in Washington, saying it violated the soccer organization’s neutrality rules.
According to the BBC , FairSquare, a human rights organization, sent a letter to FIFA asking its ethics committee to review FIFA President Gianni Infantino and his decision to give Trump the FIFA Peace Prize. The award had never been given out by soccer’s international governing body. Trump was given a medal and a certificate during the event. FairSquare says the award violated four of FIFA’s neutrality rules.
“The award of a prize of this nature to a sitting political leader is, in and of itself, a clear breach of FIFA’s duty of neutrality,” the letter stated, a
