The Towanda Circle Thunderbirds held off the Abilene Cowboys in the final quarter or their home season opener for a 65-60 victory.
Abilene would lead throughout the first half but struggle in the second half adjusting to the Thunderbirds zone defense. Towanda Circle would outscore the Cowboys 24-7 in the third quarter and would lead by as many as 15 points before Abilene would make a comeback attempt.
Abilene would get their deficit down to four points with just over a minute to play before the Thunderbirds would seal the game with the five point victory. Sophomore Kolt Becker would lead the game in scoring with 27 points.
