Japan has issued a megaquake advisory in the wake of Monday's earthquake that struck off the nation's eastern coast, with more than 30 injuries and one residential fire confirmed so far.
Since Monday's quake, which at a 7.6 richter scale reading is deemed to be a major earthquake which could have caused cause extensive damage across areas hundreds of kilometers wide, the Japan Meteorological Agency has issued a warning that there is an increased risk of a subsequent, magnitude-8 or larger quake within the next week.
