SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

Sacramento County is now accepting applications for residents interested in serving on the 2026-27 grand jury.

The application period opens Tuesday, launching the search for 19 jurors and 11 alternates who will serve a one-year term from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.

The Sacramento County grand jury plays a critical oversight role, examining the operations of county government, local cities, public schools—including community colleges—and special district agencies.

In addition to its civil oversight responsibilities, the grand jury is also authorized to hear criminal indictments.
