ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First/Score Atlanta) — Brunswick High School’s head football coach, Garrett Grady, has stepped down after a fight in its Class AAAAA quarterfinal game against Gainesville High School.
The fight seemingly began when a Brunswick player acted out of frustration over being down 42-0 by attacking and ripping off a Gainesville player’s helmet.
The player continued the attack, resulting in both teams’ sidelines clearing the field.
Forty-one Brunswick players were suspended as a result of the brawl. The team was also fined $5,000 and received a one-year postseason ban.
