CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, who was critically wounded in a terrorist attack near the White House just before Thanksgiving, continues to make progress toward recovery, according to the West Virginia National Guard.
In a social media post Tuesday, Maj. Gen. Jim Seward, adjutant general of the WVNG, shared hopeful news about Wolfe's treatment and condition.
"Yesterday his rehab team had him sitting up on his bed with his feet off the side. On command he straightened his back and sat up straight and raised his head," Seward said. "Last night mom was near the head of the bed and Andy put his arm around her neck and patted her on the back of the head. He was comforting his mom and I think telling her that he was coming back to them."
