THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. — Only in Minnesota would a community covet the bragging rights that come with getting the most snow from a winter storm.
And today... at least so far... the crown goes to Menagha, a city in central Minnesota that reported 11 inches of snow to the National Weather Service (NWS). Two other communities in mid-Minnesota came close: Naytahwaush and Nevis, each receiving 10.5 inches.
Warren, Park Rapids and Vergas each reported 9 inches of snow.
Three cities in far northwest Minnesota weren't far behind, as Bejou, Gonvick and Thief River Falls all reported 8 inches of snow as of 11 p.m. Tuesday. The town of Fertile, also in the northwest, is just behind at 7.8 inches.
