CLEVELAND, Ohio — North Royalton’s police union is calling for a new investigation into the department’s chief after a city-commissioned probe cleared him of wrongdoing.

On Monday, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 15 issued a statement urging Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley’s office and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation to investigate allegations made by Patrolman Spencer Lowe against Chief Keith Tarase and other city officials.

The original investigation, which concluded last week, was a “sham” paid for by the city to protect itself, the union said in a statement.
