OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A 55-year-old woman is dead after a crash in North Omaha late Tuesday.

According to a release from the Omaha Police Department, the crash happened shortly before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday near 60th Street and Ames Avenue.

At the scene, police officers found the woman and took her to the hospital. She died shortly after.

An initial investigation showed the woman was going eastbound on Ames on a motorized wheelchair. An eastbound 2012 Chevy Silverado “collided with her,” the release states, and she was thrown from the wheelchair.

The wheelchair ended up crashing into a Smart Fortwo in the turn lane.

The investigation is ongoing, OPD writes.
