The leader of Liverpool Council was targeted by a now disgraced former colleague who waged a campaign of abusive messages to Labour Party members. Cllr Liam Robinson has revealed he received a card from Gerard Woodhouse as he bombarded councillors with vile correspondence over a period of years.

Woodhouse, 62, was handed an 18 month community order at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, December 9 after he sent more than 100 cards to Cllr Christine Banks over a two year stretch.
