MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (WITN) - A popular fuel and convenience store is bringing a new location to Carteret County very soon.
Morehead City says Wawa will be built on U.S. 70, near the Lidl and the Highway 24 intersection.
The city says the site is currently being prepared and construction should begin mid-2026, with its completion late 2026-early 2027.
This will be Wawa’s twelfth location in Eastern Carolina. Four locations in Greenville, three in the Wilson area, two in the Goldsboro area, one in Rocky Mount, and now the first in Jacksonville.
Wawa says these are its efforts to open ninety sites across North Carolina over three to five years.
